On Saturday Newport RFC will face Swansea in their first SRC Cup game. Last weekend Swansea were just pipped at Pontypool 32-31 after taking a big lead. The format for this Cup Competition sees two pools of five teams, with each team playing the other four teams in the pool games. The top teams in each pool will play against each other in a ‘Cup Final’ on Thursday 20th March. If Swansea were to lose another game then they are almost certainly out of the running so they will be making a huge effort to secure a victory over the Black & Ambers.
The coaches make changes for this game and it will be interesting to see how these new combinations work on the field. Captain Ben Roach is part of a very strong bench.
