NEWPORT v LLANDOVERY

After losing the Premier Cup Final by just three points The Black & Ambers were hoping to get straight back into action against Llanelli but, unfortunately, the visitors were unable to raise a team.  This means that Newport were awarded a bonus point win which puts us in fourth position in the league and guarantees a place in the play-offs.  The result in Saturday’s game against Llandovery will not affect our league position but the outcome could have a huge say in how the other three sides in the play-offs finish.  There are several possibilities, but the other important game will have finished before we play.  Depending on the results we could play Cardiff, Llandovery or Merthyr in the semi-final.  We need to get back to our winning form regardless of the other teams.  The fact that the game is being played at Rodney Parade, under lights and being shown live on S4C Clic will add a bit of spice to the contest.
