Friends of Newport Rugby Trust have once again made a massive injection of funds to Newport RFC by the donation of £25,000. FoNR are the supporters volunteer trust who provide much needed financial and hands-on support to help Newport RFC in the Indigo Welsh Premiership and Cup competitions.
Funds are raised by a wide range of activities including trust memberships, Lottery and Bullion draws, bucket shakes, merchandise sales, sponsorship and advertising efforts.
FoNR Chairman Andrew Hopkins handed over the cheque to club Chairman Will Godfrey at the recent fixture against Merthyr at Newport Stadium. Will thanked Andrew for the huge contribution and said, ‘We couldn’t sustain the club without the efforts of FoNR. Their volunteer work on matchdays allows us to open the gates and run the show. Everything from ticket sales to running the food and drink outlets as well as their usual fundraising efforts, match announcements, programme manufacture and sales, stewarding, stadium cleaning, helping with kit and ball boys etc. It’s a great team effort and we as a club are extremely grateful to them for their fundraising and volunteer work.
