Elliot Frewen has retired from rugby and thrown his boots into the River Usk.
After a distinguished career at Newport RFC that lasted 13 seasons the 38 year old has decided to retire and spend more time with his daughter and family.
Elliot signed from Tonmawr RFC and made his debut against Llanelli on 3/9/11. His first try came the following weekend against Bridgend. He went on to score 96 tries in black and amber in 245 games, a quite remarkable statistic. He retires as the most club capped player in the Newport RFC team at this time.
In his speech at the end of season dinner, Elliot gave thanks to all of the Newport coaches, management, players and supporters who have backed him over the years. Already inducted in the club Hall Fame, he won’t be forgotten for sure.
Elliot and his family are sure to still be regular visitors to Newport Stadium and we wish them all well and look forward to seeing them soon.
