Everyone at Newport RFC was saddened to hear of the death of former player, Alun ‘Archie’ Evans.
‘Archie’ played 278 games for Newport between 1967 and 1979, including the games against Tonga, New Zealand and Australia. He was very popular on and off the field among fellow players and supporters. After his career at Newport he returned to his first club, Abergavenny, and had a very successful spell as player and coach. He was very well respected by rugby people throughout the county.
Newport Rugby Football Club sends our condolences to Alun’s family and friends.
