Friends of Newport Rugby were set up at the start of regional and semi-pro rugby to provide volunteer and financial support to Newport RFC. This has gone from strength to strength with every passing season.
On Saturday FoNR treasurer Simon Mann presented club chairman Will Godfrey with a cheque for £22,160 this in addition to the £25,000 presented before Christmas. Throw in a few of the other financial contributions made along the way this season and a huge sum of £50,000 has been handed over to the Black & Ambers.
None of this would have been possible without the help of our loyal band of volunteers backed up by the generosity of Newport supporters and sponsors. The club would not be able to function without this valuable input. It really does keep the club afloat but it is never enough and we always need to do more to raise extra funds
