Dan the Man joined Newport RFC in 2003/4 from Whitland where he had scored 1118 league points averaging more than 300 per season from 1999/0-2001/2. He had also played for Wales Students, Welsh Unis and Llanelli Youth and had made 1 appearance for Llanelli against Cardiff. Played for Bayonne, France end 2003/4 helping them to promotion but then returned to Rodney Parade. Has played for Dragons. In his first two seasons with Newport he scored 641pts (592 Premier League) from 63 games. By May 3rd 2006 Dan has scored 1933 league points which includes 44 league tries and for the third season running he has passed 200 league points. On May 3rd 2006 vs Aberavon, Dan became the 5th Newport RFC player to reach 900pts in his Newport career. This put him just behind Leighton Davies whom he passed when he scored 10 pts vs Maesteg on Sept 16th 2006 at Rodney Parade to put him on 927pts and in 4th place in Newport RFC's all-time points scoring list behind Norman Morgan, Shane Howarth and Paul Turner.
At the end of 2005/6 Dan had scored 905pts from 93 games of which 820 pts have been scored in 83 games in the Premier League. He also scored 1118 league points with Whitland RFC for a total of 1938 at end 2005/6.
Made his 100th Newport RFC appearance at Bridgend on Dec 16th 2006 and his 2 pg's took his Newport RFC career total to 951 to tie with Norman Morgan in 3rd place in all time Newport RFC list. This also took him to 1,984 League points.
In Jan 2008 vs Bridgend he became the 2nd ever Newport player - behind Paul Turner (1145pts) - to pass 1100pts and at Aberavon he became the 3rd ever player to pass 1,000 league points in the semi-professional era. On Feb 8th 2008 at Old Parish Ground, Maesteg he passed Paul Turner's record to become the highest ever individual points scorer for Newport RFC.
