Newport travel to the Wern Field to Face a Merthyr team sitting comfortably at the top of the league table.  They have a very strong squad and are proving very difficult to beat home or away.  Their National Cup game against Pontypool was postponed last Saturday and they will be keen to get back out onto the pitch.  They surely have a league and cup double in their sights.

The Black & Ambers can also get that league and cup double but need to improve on their last two outings.  Although they beat Ebbw Vale and Llanelli the performances were not convincing and the coaching team will be hoping for fewer errors and better decision making.  Tuesday’s training session involved a practice game against Wales Under-20s and the Newport squad went well.  It gave them a chance to get rid of the cobwebs after two postponed games.  The team for Merthyr will be selected after Thursday’s training session.
