2018/2019 Principality Premiership
Newport 22 v 17 Bedwas
23 September 2018 - Rodney Parade, Newport

Match Preview

On Sunday the Black & Ambers face a Bedwas team still searching for their first win of the season.  But that doesn’t give a true picture as the Bridge Field outfit has had a very tough start with games against top teams, Merthyr, Pontypridd and Llandovery.  They are sure to start climbing the league table soon and nothing would please them more than to start that climb with a win at Rodney Parade.

Newport were disappointed to come away from Cardiff Arms Park with just a losing bonus point last week and although it was a generally good performance a couple of lapses in defence saw them pay a harsh penalty.  There can be no room for error on Sunday.

Dan Preece, Joe Bartlett, Josh Skinner and Kyle Taylor return in the pack and Geraint O’Driscoll takes up his usual 15 spot in the backs allowing Elliot Frewen to claim his favourite wing position.  Geraint Watkin gets his first start at scrum half after some impressive performances when coming off the bench

Newport: Dan Preece, Henry Palmer, Garin Harris, Andrew Mann, Joe Bartlett, Josh Skinner, Kyle Tayler, Rhys Jenkins (Captain), Geraint Watkin, Matt O’Brien, Elliot Frewen, Tom Pascoe, Chay Smith, Jon Morris, Geraint O’Driscoll.

Replacements: Louis Tovey, Lewis Smout, Jack Williams, Chris Williams, Josh Reid, Ryan James, David Richards, Haydn Simons.
