After an entertaining game against Neath last Sunday, the Black & Ambers make the long trip to Llandovery to face a team who are on great form. With these sides due to face each other in a National Cup semi-final at Aberavon on Saturday 7th April, it will be interesting to see how they approach this game.
The Church Bank outfit are going well and earned a semi-final place by just beating Cross Keys at Pandy Park and we all know that’s a difficult place to get a win. Last time out they beat Pontypridd convincingly at Sardis Road in front of the TV cameras. They can play a tight, forward orientated game but their backs are dangerous with direct running and off-loading. Newport will need to be at their best to get the win. The good news for spectators is that both teams like to play attacking rugby so we could be in for a treat.
There was a price to pay for last Sunday’s performance with more players picking up injuries and the squad will once again be stretched. After this game it’s Swansea at home on Tuesday before the big one at Aberavon.
The Newport team will be selected after a team run on Thursday and some last minute medical checks.
