After last Sunday’s disappointing performance Newport get an early chance to get their season back on track with a visit to Pandy Park, the home of Cross Keys RFC. Our neighbours have also had a poor start compared to the success they’ve had over recent seasons. You can be sure that there will be a warm welcome for the visitors as Keys look to get back to winning ways.
The Newport coaching team will have studied the video of the Bargoed game and they will have found that they have plenty to work on. The match statistics don’t lie and players will have studied these and, individually and collectively, they will know that there is an awful lot of room for improvement. Surely there is only one way to go.
The coaching team again make changes with Haydn Simons and Will Evans coming straight in at outside half and hooker. Haydn Palmer gets a wing spot after having a couple of games with Newbridge following his injury. Promising back row forward Josh Reid fills the vital number 8 position.
