Bedwas lost narrowly to Pontypridd last time out in a game played in driving rain. There was only one score in it and Bedwas will believe they should have had the win. Newport also lost by one score against Cardiff but the conditions were very different in a fast, high tempo match. Both sides will be looking to get that first “W” on the score-sheet.
The Black & Ambers are spoilt for choice in several positions which means good players will be unable to make the starting fifteen or the replacements bench. The coaches have had some tough decisions to make.
The pack sees just one change with Craig Attwell replacing the promising Lloyd Phillips at six. The front five stays the same after giving Cardiff a tough time in the set piece. Number eight Reuben Tucker and open side Kyle Tucker will hope to continue the form they showed at Cardiff Arms Park.
At half-back Owen Davies and Arwel Robson get the nod with Tom Pasco and Tom Riley continuing their centre partnership. Elliot Frewen takes one wing spot and the other is filled by Ashton Hewitt on permit from Newport Gwent Dragons. Ashton has always played well for Newport and he will be keen to impress. Geraint O’Driscoll keeps the fifteen jersey.
